On November 5th I traded in Zoey - my little 99' Honda, silver, 2-door Honda Civic EX. I bought a 2008, grey, 4-door Honda FIT sport. And it has lots of bells and whistles. With the help of a dear friend, Vasily, I settled upon the name "Grayce" aka Graycie, named after her color. I like to play it up and call her the "Amazing Grayce" too. While I am excited for this shiny new toy, I miss my familiar one. I had Zoey since junior year of high school, and I'm now in grad school. Long time. And it may seem weird, but I feel part of my identity has changed too. I had often identified myself with my car - sporty, edgy, cool, dependable, etc. - everything you hear about Honda Civics. The dealer said he felt this new car was a good fit. Cute play on words. I'm hoping he was right. I mean, it's just a car, a material item, but...I don't know. It feels like a little bit more. I like that it's a dark silver/grey. Grey is one of my favorite colors. Especially teamed with orange.
Grayce handles really well and my mom says I drive it as though I've owned it for years. But that's just the way Hondas handle, I think. I love Honda and I'll hopefully be a Honda girl for life. Well, like all new things, I'm just gonna have to adjust. It's just a car and there'll be more serious changes throughout my life I'm sure. Thanks for hearin' me out. This is your authoress, Elle, signing off. Goodnight.
