Rhinelander, Wi www.rhinelanderchamber.com is one of my favorite vacation spots. I went to high school up here for three years and have visited often since. There were my favorite spots when I lived here, which haven't changed, but now, as a tourist, I really like hanging out at Coffee Beans Etc. It was established while I lived here and I was a frequent consumer of their espresso-injected beverages. And even though I usually come here to hang out with friends, I honestly prefer coming here alone. I sit at one of their higher bar style tables and type away on short stories or surf the web on their free wi-fi. Today I am waiting for my high school best friend to arrive. It's just past noon on Saturday so the place is hoping. People are eating fresh wraps, muffins, and of course coffee. Today I will try one of their bagel sandwiches and juice. If you ever visit the Northwoods of Wisconsin, I highly recommend checking out this little coffee shop and I hope you get April to attend you, she is fabulous and outgoing.
A second place I enjoy visiting is the small art gallery at the community college. The drive through Nicolet campus is lovely in itself. Once at the art gallery one can find displays of photography, oils, pastels, acrylic, and mixed media art. Sign the guest book and the college will send you information on upcoming events. Even if you are not the art buff, the campus is gorgeous as it camps out along the shores of Lake Julia with several beautiful views including a large pier and a forest trail that leads out to a peninsula with excellent climbing rocks.
My spring break ends this weekend and I will be departing from Rhinelander on Monday or Tuesday. It will be nice to get back to civilization and my regular routine. The Wisconsin break has suit me very well and I look forward to my next visit. Hope to see you around town!
